Transferability
As part of their Production Practicum course, Film Arts runs three Film Industry Courses through the British Columbia Institute of Film Professionals that provide Certification for their students.
For Writers and Directors in Film Arts - BCIFP COURSE
The BC Film Industry Orientation Course is a two-day introduction to working in dramatic film and television production (primarily on-set). It is mandatory for application to most film labour organizations in BC.
The curriculum for the course was developed through an industry-wide consultation process and is standardized for all delivery locations.
For Actors in Film Arts: Performers Orientation Class (Run by BCIFP)
Whether you're an emerging actor or background performer, this dynamic two-day course introduces you to the business and working conditions of the film industry and life on a film set and related off-set issues.
Developed in partnership with the Union of BC Performers/BC Branch of ACTRA.
WHMIS – All three streams of Film Arts students take the WHMIS course
WHMIS is a short form for Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System. It is a comprehensive plan for providing information on the safe use of hazardous materials used in Canadian workplaces. Information is provided by means of product labels, material safety data sheets (MSDS) and worker education programs.
Workers are required to participate in the training programs and to use this information to help them work safely with hazardous materials. They may also inform employers when labels on containers have been accidentally removed or if the label is no longer readable.
